In my opinion, God would not step in to save us because one of His greatest gifts is the gift of free will. We have independent thought becasue of HIm, and as sentient beings we are allowed to use our intellignce in any way we wish, even if we're stupid enough to destroy ourselves, as we are doing at a rapid rate. And why would aliens help us? I don't see that they would have any interest in doing so. We are not a grateful sort of people. Divide and conquer, and destroy everything in the meantime. A parasite on the earth, that's what we are.

First off what would make anyone think that Earth is so important that aliens would intervene. Remember, humanity has been around for less than 500,000 years! Maybe advanced intelligences and civilizations think we are a "seedling world" with nothing to offer to the Grand Scheme of Things. So why bother with us? It's like being in a gigantic forest with trees as old as 500 years and a plethora of other species on the forest floor and flying high above. Look at earth as a little sprout on the bottom of the forest, hardly noticeable to the gigantic trees towering high above or to the birds flying in the air or monkeys jumping from limb to limb. why would anyone want to mess with a seedling sprout on the ground when there are so many other things they can get into?

why?
I mean, look at, say, some African countries. Horrible regimes, horrible violence, horrible poverty. Are we doing anything tangible about it? No, not at all.
Oh of course we're sending a bit of food from time to time. But we're also blocking cereal trade by subsidising our own agriculture. And we're happy to sell them arms which they buy with the money we've lent them.
Even places where we have a selfish interest (natural resources) we've let to go haywire, at least as long as the horrible conflicts didn't disrupt the inflow of those natural resources to our rich countries.
So unless those aliens were much nobler beings that we are, I don't see why they would bother.
As for God, the Bible states that the whole point is that He let his creation enjoy its own free will, having created and set the rules but that's it. So intervening would be against this spirit.

No. If either or both exist, it's all just a science experiment him/her/them. To stop the test just when a definitive answer is near, would ruin the whole project.
Or, you could look at it from a Star Trek perspective. Don't interfere with technologically inferior races, even if it means their own destruction.

What about Superman? And Particle Man? Why can't they save the Earth too?
Oh right, for the same reason.
It's up to us not to destroy the Earth. No one is going to come and save us from ourselves, nor is anyone going to give us a new planet once we've wrecked this one.

It has to do with your belief if you're atheist, Buddhist, Islamic, protestant. More or less likely if he was real he would do something or let us make our mistakes, then start it over like he did with the flood.
