Can you tell me the psychological implications of a girl having sex the first time and getting married to a man that is 25 years old?

This was an arranged marriage, and there was no say.

Note: This happened a good 80 years ago.

80 years ago the world was a different place and morals were different. Girls were expected to marry and often at an early age in order to have plenty of good child bearing years ahead of them. Because it was acceptable to marry so young, chances are her age didn't have a huge impact on her psychological well-being. People did not live as long then as they do now so childhood ended earlier by necessity....children were needed and expected to help support the family so marriage at 14 was just part of adulthood which had probably already been reached. As far as an arranged marriage goes, that probably had more impact on her mental health than her age because it took away her freedom of choice and thrust her into a situation of total dependence and servitude...never giving her a chance to realize her hopes and aspirations. My great-grandmother married the first time at the age of 15 to a 31 year old man and had a total of 5 husbands, each one dying and leaving her to support her family alone. She did OK and raised some great kids so marrying young apparently didn't hurt her but she picked the men which gave her some control over her life. Loss of any control over your life can be very devastating.

80 years ago I dont think a lot of psychological damage would have been done. It was the custom, and girls knew in advance that this was to happen, so it was just part of their life. It only becomes psychologically damaging when times change and customs change. It is a cultural thing, and whether we agree with it or not, if you grow up knowing what your role is, then there is no confusion so I believe no psychological damage would have been done. It only is psychologically damaging if we are forced to do something we know is wrong. In those days it wasnt considered wrong, it was just something that was the accepted norm.

80 years ago, this happened all the time. My grandmother was married to my grandfather when she was 13. He was 22. In those days, no birth control, parents had large familys and they married there children off young to be taken care of.

My grandparents where married for 60 plus years. Had 14 children of there own, and then had over 100 grandchildren. They loved each other deeply until the day they died.

80 years ago there were different moral and attitude toward marriage. I think girls were married at earlier age than now and it was legal. Presently 14 year old is too young to be married in the USA.

It was quite acceptable then. My friend's mother had my friend when she was only 13 years of age. So it happens. Not such a good idea now because we're more aware of things now.
