The best types of tools are the DeWalt & Craftsman because not only are they a good long lasting tool, but the companies have been around a long time and they have lifetime warrenties on their products.

So at any time you can take it in if it breaks and get it replaced from where you bought it or an authorized rep dealer. Like Sears is a Craftsman dealer.

On an occassion other companies will offer on an item a lifetime guarentee so that can some times be a good deal. Ryobi is pretty good and up there and so is Makita.

You can not ever go wrong with DeWalt or Craftsman but they are a bit high priced because of the long lasting material and warrenty. Trust me tools is one place you want to go for the gold. Especially if he is a keeper :o) Good Luck

(Free tip on shopping for tools for a man, walk into the store and ask for whatever the tool is you need make sure you ask a guy. They tell you what you they think you want, then ask the same person what a good woman should really buy for their man and they always change their mind and say something different like whatever their wives or girl friends will not buy for them)

Well there is also Rigid, they were know in the past for plumbing tools, but have come out with a very good power tool set, Dewalt it generally the contractors tool of choice though, and belive it or not Dewalt, Kwikset(door locks), and Black and Decker??? All the same company. So if you dont know Dewalt you at least have to know B&D.

DeWalt or Mikita are very good - You can't go wrong with Black and Decker -

sears craftsman - professional line is also good

Tools are a great gift - you may want to consider a gift card at one of the big box stores - so he can pick out his own.

I would say whatever is on sale, sometimes the no name brands work better than the name brands. But as the saying goes you get what you pay for.
