Racists are ignorant bigots. But the situation is improving as our society becomes less xenophobic. It will take time to absorb all the cultures that have recently been imported, and some people will never accept that people with a different skin tone are equal.
Think of the situation in what is now the USA. 150 years ago, there was mass immigration into the US as the poor and dispossessed sought a new life. Most of those migrants settled in their own ghettos, with little integration. Yet, today the original ghettos have all but disappeared, to be replaced by a different set of poor. The ghetto dwellers of today will, in their turn, join the mainstream of society, and they will be replaced by yet another wave of migrants.
In the last 40 years, the white supremacists who once ruled the southern states in the USA, have lost most of their powers, to be replaced, in many cases, by the very peoples they once enslaved (for that was the reality). No longer must Rosa Parkes daughters give way to the white thug who demands his "rights". The KKK no longer ventures forth to burn and slaughter the downtrodden "negra", at least, not if they value their own freedom.
Slowly but surely, the bigots are having their eyes opened to the new reality. Why, just two days ago, Mr Ian Paisley, who for more than 40 years has been the main objector to peacefull coexistence in Ireland, sat down to discuss a new direction with none other than the head of the RC church in Ireland. Now, tell me that that was not a significant moment.

I can't tell from here whether or not racism is going away. Some days it looks like it's getting worse. There is an answerer to this question who seems to think that her country is only for "white English" people. I suppose she might be English.
I also don't know that ignoring racists helps. It seems like the disease might grow more in the dark than it does when exposed to the light of day. The PC police don't seem to be helping with this. I think it might be better to let racists enter discussions and say what they think so that others can at least try to reason with them. I think that silent hatred can be more deadly than exposed hatred. I think that the one thing that does seem to help is for racists to encounter the people they think they hate as individuals. I really believe that most racists hate fictional people; that the people they hate are only figments of their own imaginations instead of real people. I mean you could hate a bad person and you could suppose that more people are bad if you don't ever get to know any of them, but once you begin to understand a person as a person, it gets harder to really hate.
So for your question: if this is a hypothetical medical procedure, a racist would claim that they would prefer to die, but if it was something that actually happened, they'd be glad to have their lives saved. The more we can get out of our heads and into real life, the better off we will all be.

It depends. If the person is extremely racist to the point where they would rather die than be operated on by a race they didn't like, than of course they're are racist. Although I don't think a person is a hypocrite just because they receive care from a person from a race they are racist against. I have to say if I strongly disliked someone, but it came down to them saving my life or refusing their service and me dying, I'd take their help because in the end your still living another day to dislike the person. It maybe sound bad, but that's how i figure it is.

There are, sadly, those who would refuse an operation if it was to be conducted by a person of a different race or religion, but (and this is probably the worst type of person) there are those who would cry out for help from any person - just so long as they can save their miserable lives. Once saved they would return to their racist ways. This type of person is incredibly dumb, selfish and ignorant.

i am not a racist but i could be a hypocrite. i think black people are great the way they can clean a house is unreal i think all families should have one. old joke i know but as for the real answer to this question we all have our likes and dislikes of people and any one who says they don't is a hypocrite. another point in days of old when slavery was popular or the KKK where in there hay-day coloured people (which is a contradiction in itself as we all have colour of some sort) where hated but they had no problems with having them clean there house or cook there meals. now if i was honest if it was some one or some thing that i detested so badly i wouldn't let them in my house let alone cook my meals yes i agree there probably isn't a person around who wouldn't accept an organ donation from some they despised because of colour or religion. the reason is more out of selfishness rather than hypocrisy. and that is what is wrong with the world today. as for me i hope i wont ever need a transplant or transfusion but if i do i dont care where the organs come from as long as its healthy.

Don't bother yourself with this question. The ignorant and uninformed will always spout off their opinions. And yes...they are some of the most hateful people on the planet. Don't bother worrying about them or even give them the time of day. They are what's sucking the life out of the rest of us good natured human beings. Simply tell them that they are mentally ill and go to the next web page. (just kidding)
Actually, they just need to be ignored. Man as a species desires acceptance right? Don't acknowledge....and there is no acceptance...no acceptance and they have to re-evaluate what they stand for.

The first open heart operation in the world - done by a black doctor.
Who figured out how to give people safe blood tranfusions? A black guy!
But racism is all over - why? Because for bigots it's easier to blame someone else for a their misserable life rather than try to improve it through real work without looking down on others.

the country where i am in the majority of the doctors are not of my race/reglion. there only a limited number of doctors for my race/religion itself.. so for me i have no problem if yr black /pink/white/yellow doctor or donor...btw if i have a my personal doctor i will not choose someone of my own race.. i just feel uncomfortable.(abit embarassed). so u cant say i'm racist against my own people rite..
btw for people who dont want to be operated because of yr reasons gd let them die . so there will be less racist people in the world. hahah

They don't think about it. Like a lot of garbage spouted on this site, there is no thought or consideration given. Whether that is down to stupidity or downright racism, I can't say.

I am a race relations officer and am sick of flagging the sort of racist questions you mean, I have yet to see any removed by Yahoo so am in the process of going to a higher authority to force Yahoo to address this issue.
The majority of idiots posting this garbage can only recognise foreign people if they are a different skin colour so most would not notice unless the Doctor stood out!
