Oh..I don't know where do begin!
OK..here are a few things to start you off with..

1) Albania's name in Albanian language.. is called SHQIPETAR in Albanian which means 'LAND OF THE EAGLE.'.
They have a double headed eagle on their flag..and the eagle is part of a their national myth..
Read the full myth here

2) Albania had the tribal law called the KANUN which was blood feud.. It meant that if one person in the family was killed.. Then it was the duty to avenge that death, by killing a male over the age of 16 in the family of the killer..And feuds would go on for generations because once someone was killed they must be avenged so it was a cycle..
This is still a problem in remote parts..
Albanian author Ismail Kadare wrote about it in his novel Broken April

3) Albania was for a time under the dictatorship of Communist ENVER HOXHA the only country in the world to BAN RELIGION..He closed churches and built pig factories..Even today after communism finished Albanians are not very religous and you will see the strange phenomem of many familes with members of different religons in them because people now convert freely between religons..Albania is nominally Europes only Muslim state..but the Muslims there are not very strict
You will also Muslims who drink alcohol and eat pork

4)The British Comedian NORMAN WISDOM is very popular in Albania because under communist times his was the only programs from the west that could be seen on Albanian TV

Whilst Mother Teresa was not born in Albania..All Abanians I have met..definatly DON'T say she wasn't Albanian. There are also some Albanians who claim that Alexandre the great was Albanian..

The most revered was SKANDERBEG. He is the national hero

Mehmet Pasha the viceroy of Egypt was also Albanian,
And John Belushi the American actor is of Albanian orgin.

Mother Theresa was NOT (I assure you) from Albania.
She was of Albanian origin.
She was born in Skopje, (at that time it was part of Ottoman Empire), but today it is the capital city of FYR Macedonia.

Only other thing about Albania that I know is:
Very popular with "pyramid schemes" in the financial industry, so in 1997 the fake banks failed and few people made millions while the rest of the population was left without any money.
