Do you think that going to the pre-game meal is interfering with your grades?
If not, can you try to reason with her?

You have a very special gift and a very special problem all in one. You have above average intelligence that is reflected in the honors you receive. But the grades you receive in your classes do not really reflect your potential, at least in your mothers eyes.
Believe it or not, (I certainly had a hard time believing it when I was in high school but it's true), you mother knows quite a bit about who you are and what you are capable of. I know it's hard to believe, but nevertheless it's true.
What I would do is don't make an issue out of it or cause hostility in her. Wait a bit, it's not so important, and tell her how you are really concentrating on your work, which you will be, and would it be alright if you had this small request. She will probably grant it. You cannot win a fight because there is no winner. It's your mom.

If you were my child, then I would say that you couldn't go to the meal until you brought up your calculus grade to an 88% or higher, since that is the second lowest grade you are making in your other classes. But, for being a sophmore, taking an AP calc class, I'd say you're doing really well. See if you can get some tutoring to bring that grade up, or maybe even some extra credit assignments. Good luck!

Sorry, but whatever your mom says goes. There was really no reason for you to get two F's on assignments unless you totally blew them off, so maybe no-more-meal is a consequence of that. The only thing to do is to negotiate with your mom: if you get B or better on some upcoming assignments, maybe she will resinstate the meal-thing. See if you can work out a trade with her- good grades for meals.

actually, I understand how your mom feels but I do think that you deserve one day a week to go out with your friends and do what you enjoy. But if you grades drop because of it, I'll have to agree with your mom. I too have children and school is very important but I believe socializing also has an effect on our lives and that if you are truly doing your homework, then I believe it's okay.

Your mother is a perfectionist...either you can do one of two things...completely rebel...which isn't good for your parental relationship, or stay under their thumb for the next 2-3 years...if you rebel, an excellent choice, then you should quit the football team, shave down to a mohawk...well, maybe just spikes...and wear grunge style clothing and completely bomb your classes...then ask her,"Hey mom, which do you think was better, me failing one or two classes, or completely ******* up my life?" ...you know what...just listen to your mother...
