Well dear, I was in HR for many years and if you have got a second interview, then they must have been quite impressed at the first one and you are now on a short list.

Firstly - re-read your CV and remember what you answered to their questions in the first interview - they may well ask the same question again, but in a slightly different way - any variation in your answer would go against you. Also, if they ask for anything in writing from you, make sure that it is well presented and that all the spelling and grammar are correct - CVs and applications with bad spelling go straight into the bin!

Secondly - read up a bit more on the company - questions like 'why do yo want to work for us?' are common and your answer needs to be good. Try to get in some facts about how the company is set up, how well it is doing and maybe who the main competitors are.

At the second interview I would expect the candidate to be able to answer more probing questions on their previous jobs and experience - try to think of skills and qualities that you have that will benefit the new company.

At the end, have a short positive statement about yourself ready - my last question was always - 'have you anything you would like to say?' this is your last chance to impress, so make it good!

Good luck

On all of my husband's second interviews, he interviewed with higher up people, and he had to take skills tests. So the first half hour was an interview and the second was a skills test. It might be similar, depending on your field.

if the organization is a ltd organization provide them a hoop and ask them to deliver you a replica of their annual checklist for the previous year. Ask questions appropriate to the businesses goals over here few years, value determinations and who your direct line supervisor would be. arrive on the interview early and at an identical time as in reception you may benefit some good conversing factors from the certificates and records that are generally left contained in the reception section.

2nd interview would mean you have been shortlisted, nearer to getting the job ;-) This is usually an interview to confirm their selection, or by another higher panel of decision makers. No difference from the 1st interview. Just relax, be yourself. Good luck :-)
