First of all yes if you are a minor your Dad has a responsibility to help take care of you. However $50 a month? that does not seem like very much. This can't be child support is it? If it is it isn't helping out much. However if this is in addition to the child support like spending money just for you I would say that no he isn't obligated to do so and is probably only doing it because he feels guilty that he doesn't see you like a buy off of sorts.

Yes he should and more if he can afford it. You deserve attention and love, but financial security is good enough if that is all the bum has to offer. Be brave and ask for the money! Some of these jerks are tightwads. Call frequently and talk about your needs, clothes, phone, class projects, etc. If he can't be there for you, at least tell him he can be a part of your life by helping with these things. Good luck and you deserve a real Dad.

If he is your father for sure... he OWES you/your care-taker... for you, AT LEAST that much per month. It's called, "child support" and he should be having to pay it to your state, for you... then they should be sending you or your care-taker a monthly check. If he's only paying $50. per month, he must be unemployed or worse. Most children in most states get closer to $300.-$400./mo. It's the very LEAST your father can do for you. If no one had filed for your child support, call your local Health & Welfare Office and see if you can open a child support claim yourself. Talk to a social worker about it and get at least a little $$$/mo. to help you with simple living expenses. If your mom or care-taker gets it... they don't owe you any of the $$$, but they do need to use it to go towards your care. Home/food/clothing/school, etc. Also, your father will have to take out some medical insurance for you if a claim is filed for your support. Get on it! Best of luck!

P.S. If he chooses to see you or not... has nothing to do with the support he owes you! He "fathered" you... he owes you some help.

My kids' father hasn't seen them in over 2 years and think he should be giving them more than $50 a month. Hell, $50 is all I've gotten from him since I left him in April 2004. As for you, it depends on your age. If you're 25 and asking this, then I don't think your Dad should be giving you money except on your birthday and Christmas.

If you're under 18, he should be paying child support which is more then 50 dollars a month.
If you're over 18 then you can support yourself and should be supporting yourself rather then relying on adults because after you turn 18, child support checks stop.

i think if a dad never See's his child and they live in the same u.s. is very sad. but the child certainly deserves more than a funky fifty. you can't support a child with this. what's wrong with these dead beat dads? and i don't understand how you can walk away from your blood this way. there is nothing in this life that compares to family. there is nothing more than a hug from my child, or to see my child smile when he sees me.

A shame, real shame, that he never sees you.

But if he can contribute to your well being, then yes.

Wish u the best.

No. Whether he sees you or not has nothing to do with whether he should give you money.
