Head for the Duomo - its spectacular in itself (and you've got to have some culture) but it is also pretty much the centre of the shopping district.
As you look at the front of the cathedral, turn left and you'll see a huge arcade (bigger than the cathedral - its a question of priorities I guess). This is THE famous shopping arcade and you'll find Prada and Louis Vuitton in here. If you're on my budget (less than multi-millionnaire) you can gaze lovingly at the posh handbags at £1000 a shot and then go and buy a knock-off one from the hawkers at the end of the arcade. You can get a shopping map from your hotel or the tourist information centre (also in the Duomo square).
Milan's biggest department store is also on the Duomo square, and you'll find a couple of nice pavement cafes. Obviously they're expensive, but take your time and check out the views.
Behind the shopping arcade you'll find a quietish square, and across it you'll see the world-famous 'La Scala' theatre. Even if Opera isn't your thing, they have a museum which is worth a gander.
If you want a day out somewhere quieter, its really easy to get to some of the Italian Lakes from Milan. I'd pop on the train to Lake Como for a relaxing romantic stroll on the lake shores or a boat trip.
Or you could just keep shopping!

I had never been to Milan myself. However, once I want to see a place, i go to yahoo travels & Microsoft Encarta Kids, 2006.
Milan ( Milano , Italian)
There are 47 slides on Yahoo travel with regards to Milan & I found these places to visit.
1. Duomo ( Cathedral) slide # 25
2. Monument to Leonardo da Vinci Piazza della Scala ( slide #14)
3. Castello Sforzesco
4. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II ( slide #18), huge, glass-roofed shopping arcade
5. Milano ( slide # 27)
6. Milan Cahtedral ( slide # 43), one of the largest in the world where you can see notable works of art & the world's holiest relics.
7. Leonardo da Vinci ( slide # 47)
I suggest that you read other peoples review of the places they had been in yahoo travel too.
In Encarta Encyclopedia, Balzarini House was shown, as in multimedia also, it is a builiding in the art de nouveau style.
Galeria Milan has also shops where you can go shopping!
Have a nice trip!

Go shopping!! Bring home some sort of object to remind you of Milan. Go sight seeing and don't ride any place. Walk so you won't miss any small boutiques or a small land mark. Plus, you get a better pitcture. Ask the locals what the best clubs are and meet new Itailian people!! Go to different resteraunts to taste real italian food and spread the word.Just get to know the place because you might not ever get to go back. So do all you want to do before you leave!
