What is the big deal with Jack Straw's comments, why is everything insulting to Muslims?

Muslims are new to scrutiny. They have just begun to be on the receiving end of questioning and the harsh scrutiny of Western thought. They haven't faced this in countries from which their families originate. Nations that base their laws on Islam or Islamic tradition have quashed independent free thought and dissident opinions.
So, continue to question Islam. Continue to question their practices. It will bring them kicking and screaming into modern times. It's for their benefit.
Jack Straw's comments were very reasonable. He asked that women that come to his office remove their veil so that he can properly communicate with them.
Side note -
Muslims on Yahoo Answers say the head coverings are not even proscribed in the Koran anyway.

Great question. I can't figure them out either. My guess is that it is a religion of oppression and violence followed by poorly educated, selfish and inherently violent people. The pope recently proved it beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Ignorance,fear,restriction of opinions,no tolerance,old customs that dont fit in modern societal views and a tribal mentality. also just an excuse to start something?

IDK....they come into my home country (CANADA) and they think everything is free, they account for 85% of violence and foul played death that i see, and are rude to our citizens. if we were poor like them would they let us into their country if we had opposite situations? NOT A CHANCE. enough said. basel, if he/we instul your religion we're dead? i'd like to see that..don't be talking like your religion is the best there is or ever was or will be..look at terrorism..If something is said like the least little comment, they absolutly FLIP and are ready to kill..they act like they are so perfect. But they can harass us and other emotional/physical harassment?...an immagrant girl in my class likes to shout shut up at people who "bother" her...i can go into detail but the lack of disrespect and poor karma-related descions and all that we do for them incases where we let them in our countries and give them free food and water, and every day needs..and they treat us like that...it is enough to nearly make me flip aswell..

ITA !!! they can dish it out but cannot take it....
they can spit on our bible, behead out people but if anyone says, draws, write anything about them,,,,, they're ready to murder us....
I say let Korea test their nukes in the middle east !!

because they can get away with it. As long as they are "the religion of peace" they can raise hell all they want.
