first, a hug, then a kiss, then you take him and the rest of your family to play 18 holes and a dinner at some fancy resturant!

My birthday is 10 days before Christmas so I know how people feel trying to find something for my birthday as well as Christmas. But my dad also plays golf, and one thing he can never have enough of is golf balls. Find out what type your dad uses and get him a package. You can get him tees. I think it would be really cool if you got a basket and filled with all his golfing needs, golf tees, golf balls, the little towels they use, a labeler for his golf balls, a hat anything you can think of and then in the card include a coupon you made that says something like a one day coupon where you will be his caddy. It's a thoughtful gift that comes from the heart and you are including time to spend with him. Good Luck!!!

I would give him two seperate cards, one for his birthday and one for Christmas. You could make one a funny card and one a serious card.
You didn't indicate how old he is, so it's hard to give suggestions on what to give him.
How about something unique like a 1 hour massage at a local health club or someplace.
If he likes movies or music you could give him a gift card for a store that sells them, but it would be more personal if you could find out what he likes and buy it for him yourself.
One year I bought an antique toy fire truck from about the same year my father inlaw was born for his birthday. He loved it,because he had one almost just like it when he was a kid.

Get him a gift certificate from a golf store and let him pick out what he wants..but if you chose a present makes sure you dont wrap it in christmas paper..my nephew was born on christmas and he always feels left out because everyone always wraps his birthday presents in christmans paper and my hubby was born on the 26 day after christmas and he gets upset if we wrap his birthday presents in christmas paper also..just remember he will like anything you get him..its the thought that counts when it comes to our parents..they are just glad we didnt forget

I had to check your other questions to find out your age as you didn't post it here. Being 16 years old means funds are limited, but that's fine. I have 7 children. The best presents I've ever gotten were when they gave of themselves. Not counting the video i pod last Christmas, but that was charged to me!
My 16 year old daughter gave me a needlepoint bookmark with images of animals and Noah's ark and a quote from Genesis 7:15. My son, Yorrick, gave me a framed photo of himself holding a skull and looking eye to eye to it (ala Hamlet gazing at the skull of Yorick). My other daughter (8) has written numerous storybooks for me. My oldest daughter has given me artwork. My 4 year old son CONSTANTLY tells me I'm special to him, or I'm his best friend, etc...
I can tell that you love your dad. If you could find a way to express it in a permanent displayable way I promise you he will keep it forever. Not macaroni art. But you could make and frame a needlepoint that tells him how you feel, or a photograph of you, framed, and with a caption. Put some time into it, and put yourself into it. You can't go wrong because dads are very fond of their 16 year old daughters.
