Every woman ovulats on a different cycle and there is no real way to know without tracking your cycle. A lot of women assume that every woman is on a 28 day cycle and that they ovualate automatically on day 14 but to the millions of women who have a hard time getting preg or avoiding pregnancy this is not true.
Personally I have very odd cycles and sometimes I don't even ovulate at all. I got pregnant iwth my daughter on the 61st day of my cycle - if my doc went by my last period I would have had a due date 2-3 months earlier then I really was due.
I recommend reading Taking charge of Your Fertility - it has detailed instructions on charting your cycls and learning the best times to get preg or avoid getting pregnant. It can be a pain sometimes, but if you seriously want to know, that's the best way since every woman is different.
If you want to wing it for a few months of trying the I'd say start having sex every other day after your period finishes til your next one starts. But thats a lot of work and time that not all couples have - eveni it is fun, lol after a while it feels like work :)
Good luck

During ovulation. Right after you get over your period, you are gonna want to have sex about every other day for the rest of the month. It's also better to have sex in the morning than at night.. i have no idea why, but for some reason it's supposed to help you get pregnant. Also.. dont go to the bathroom right after sex, wait about 5 minutes.

Usually 14 to 15 days after the first day of your last period. So track your period, on the day it starts count from that day out 14 days. that is your approximate ovulation.
