Bill Gates made his fortune. He produces software that makes our lives easy and fun.I CHOOSE to use his products and give him money freely and gladly.
Mexican drug lords are being paid by the people who CHOOSE to use drugs. They give them money freely and gladly.
Burundi is the poorest country in the world. Its people choose to KILL each other
since their independence [1962] ,half of their population is under 14 years old -which means they breed like rabbits- ,they produce nothing and they live on aid mostly from Europe.I am overtaxed so they can get money ,which i DON'T give freely and gladly.
THIS is extremely unjust.
And what is unsafe is to expect that the competent and productive people will provide for the incompetent eternally.

Theft is people living on other people's expenses - and complaining they don't live well enough.

Increase in fortune and pay should not be interchanged. There is a distinct difference between labor and capital, even if you are Bill Gates. He indeed gets a salary and benefits from Microsoft, but his investments, including his Microsoft holdings, are separate from that and on their own path. And that is the the true path to wealth; capitalism. If only more people spent more time at that than watching the idiot box, imagine how wealthy they might be!

At the height of the dotcom bubble, Gates was worth about $100 billion. Now that it is only $50 billion, should we not all feel bad about all the money he lost? Right

In the meantime, as a Microsoft employee, he was a making a million or two per year and getting health benefits for his family and a 401(k) and options and . . .

Ah yes, the rich get richer. Bill Gates therefore must have inherited all that wealth over many generations to amass such a fortune! Certainly, no one could have made that much money in a single lifetime. That couldn't be. If a person were to actually make that money, we'd almost be inclined to let them keep it.

Pay is set by one thing and one thing only. Replacability.
How many people can fill Bill Gates' shoes or even compete with his product?
