using substitue method to solve this.
74 = x +137 (1)
306 = m +198 (2)
(2) - (1) <=> 232 = (m - x) + 61
m - x = 232 - 61
m - x = 171
m = 171 + x (3)
sub (3) into (2), 306 = (171 + x) + 198
solve for x, x = - 63
sub x = -63 into two variables equation to solve for m
m - (-63) = 171
m = 108
Therefore, x = - 63 and m = 108.
Check: Substitute m, x values back into (1) and (2) to verify your answer.

74=x+137; you want to get x by itself, to do that you can subtract 137 from both sides, so you get x=-63
306=m+198; again, you want to isolate m, so you subtract 198, to get m=108

1:
74 - 137 = x
x = ?
2:
m = 306 - 198
m = ?
Use a calculator, or a good old piece of paper and pencil. You can do it. I have faith in you.

Are these two seperate problems? Or is it those stupid and or or problems? If they are seperate, you need to get the variable by itself by subtracting the number that is on the same side as the variable. Sorry I couldn't help you more but you didn't give a lot of information.
