Just one time for a friend's child, I sneaked a McDonald's hamburger and a juice into an Italian restaurant. I explained to the waiter that this was the only way for us to eat in peace. If that was a problem, we could leave, etc. The guy begged us to stay, and even brought the little picky butt eater a plate of pasta to try. So it came off very well. But there was the time when I wanted my own special kettle corn and a diet pepsi in the movie theater. The ticket taker caught me, and I explained that I couldn't eat salt? Anyway he let me sneak it in, and I really enjoyed my kettle corn after I ate the burrito supreme from Taco Bell that I had hidden in my purse!

My husband and I do this all the time because sometimes we don't agree on a single place. We've never had any problems except at a local chinese restaurant that said he could not come in to the restaurant with his taco bell bag to eat with me. We left without ordering food there, just because I felt that was rude. It wasn't even a nice restaurant, that was what was most shocking about it. We drove down the street to a different chinese restaurant and didn't have any problem at all. Now I want Chinese food!

I've seen people do it and not get in trouble, but the people at the restaurant you're eating the other food at will be annoyed with you.

I totally did that because some of us wanted Subway, but everyone else wanted McDonalds - guess who's obbsessed with counting claories??? - and we didn't get in trouble. I think that it depends on where you are eating, though. At a fast food place, they generally aren't going to say anything, but at a nicer place, they might.

I have never done this--it is so rude beyond reason.
Also, a restaurant employee will ask you to get rid of food you brought in from another place because they can't be responsible for the quality of that food.

When I was little I didn't like where my parents were going to eat so they got me a hamburger from Macdonalds and I ate it at Soda Pops while my parents were eating their meal.
