You should probably wait untill your flow is a little heavier. For now just wear a tampon only when ou absolutely have to. (like swimming or long days without a change available) I would highly recommend only wearing pads. Your vagina is probably fine, it just needs some time to heal as you probably scratched it a little. It is already more likely to swell during your period a bit due to the high level of estrogen flowing down. Just give your vagina time to heal right now.

When you are light with your period, it isn't advisable to use a tampon. In every box there is a sheet that tells about toxic shock syndrome. You should read this!! Its important! If you are really light, just use a pantyliner... Always has one that is packaged in a cardboard box that is good for runners. The sticky stuff really adheres to your panties so it doesn't bunch up creating irritation. If you are regular or heavy, you should be able to use the tampons... Start with reg absorbency.
Also, if you're doing this for the first time, I recommend using Rephresh. You can get it at any drug store. It restores your PH and will help with the insertion. Tampon choice will make a difference too. I use OB Silk Ease. Its softer than regular cotton tampons. Hope this helps!

I can't tell you for sure what happened, but you're only supposed to use a tampon when you really need it. If you ever read over a package, it says to use only the most necessary size tampon. When you're not actually on your period and you're having spotting or something, stick to panty-liners. Try to wait until your flow is heavy enough to call for a tampon.

Sounds like an internal bruise and a little vaginal skin irritation due to the dryness. Wait either until the flow is heavier this month or wait til next month, which ever you are more comfortable with. My tendency would be to let my body heal, but that's just me. Good luck!

no its just because it was dry. I get that sometimes, but there's really nothing you can do, but use a pad instead...but if your a runner i dont advice that. Do you use the plastic tipped applicators??? if not try those they can help allieviate some of the pain. Goodluck!

you MAY have scratched your walls when you took it out if it was dry. wait till next month when you are heavier and to give yourself a chance to heal.
