My parents were married for 32 years before my Mom died. I also have always been interested in the high rate of divorce in the US. Are people getting married too young, to early? Is it too easy? If it doesn't work, i'll just get a divorce....i think this is what a lot of people think....before even trying to work things out.

My parents have been married for 42 years and they are still happy with one another. My grandparents were married for 44 years before my grandfather passed away. My husband's parents have been married for 43 years.
Not everyone gets divorced. I think if you make it past the first 4 years you have a better chance of staying married.

My parents did not marry each other. (They were both 16 when I was born) My mother married another man before I was born and they stayed married for 18 years then divorced. Mom then married a man for 17 years then passed away.

46 years and I have been married for almost 15 years. I guess we need to find what is wrog with us as a society. Equality of man and woman was one thing that affected marriage and I think when we learn to deal with this principle properly we will have better marriages. We just dont have role models for the new kind of marriage, we just have the past when the father ordered and the mother followed and the divorces of today so we need to find a balance.

my mom and dad divorced after 17 yrs of marriage. my mom then remarried and they were married for 30 years before he died just this year. My dad remarried and him and his wife have been married for 19 years and counting. Even though, your first marriage doesn't work out, it doesn't mean you can't find someone else that you are destined to be with.

My parents have been married 56 years, and both couples who stood up in the wedding ceremony (my mom's sister and husband and my dad's sister and husband) have been married 57 years.
I have been married 36 years, I think I deserve a metal. I should have called it quit after 9. Now it is just a bad habit.
