Here it is: Ted, Ned, and Ed were sitting in chairs, with Ted in the front, Ned behind him, and Ed directly behind both of them. A girl comes by and picks up hats at random from a box, a box that Ted Ned and Ed all know contains 3 red hats and 2 blue hats. She places a hat on each of them, while their eyes are closed, and when she's done they open their eyes. Ed, in the back, says "I can not deduce the color of the hat I'm wearing". Ned, between Ted and Ed, says "I can not deduce the color of my hat either." Ted, in front, smiles and says "I know the color of my hat". How the hell is this possible? Is there actually a typo or missing information in a math book?

Ed and Ned have blue hats, and Ted knows that there are only 2 blue hats, so he knows that he has a red hat.

If he looks at them, and they both have blue hats on, he knows he has a red hat on because there were only 2 blue =D
