I need to repair prefinished wood surfaces on some cabinets. I have a product called softwax made by fastcap company. You use the different color wax sticks to fill-in the scaps and scraches then buff smooth. I ha ve been able to use the product to help repair, Yet the scapes are still visible. Does anyone have any expercienced advice?

Most cabinets are finished with a stain and a catalytic lacquer finish. These are difficult at best to do an invisible repair. Wax sticks will fill the scratch but shrink and become visible in a very short time. Sanding and refinishing a small area is a very difficult project if your cabinets are stained. The stain never takes the same once the wood has been sealed and sanding enough to get to raw wood will usually produce disastrous results as the wood veneer is only 1/28 of an inch thick. The pros use burn in laquer sticks. You can take a look at them and get plenty of advice at your local woodworking store to see if it is something you want to tackle. Not very easy for beginners and takes a little practice but produce very excellent long lasting repairs. I would recommend a local furniture repair person if what you're looking for is a 1st class repair. Most office furniture supply stores have repair techs who specialize in desk and office repair who will come to your location and do a more than acceptable job for less than you would expect
