Is Limewrie illegal?

My friend keeps fighting me on this and I've herad alot of people say it is is it?

The software program itself, Limewire, is not illegal to have or use.
However, downloading copyrighted material is illegal.
So it's how you use it that determines whether you are legal or illegal, not whether or not you have the program.
