In the last go around of monopoly I saved pieces religiously! (We live quite a ways from the nearest big city where my child goes to school. when we have things in teh evening we go to the McD's playplace for an hour or so to "let off steam" when it is cold or rainy.) Anyway, I had multiples of all the pieces except the one needed to win. I played online and never won a thing. I think it is a scam too. I think they should parade the winners to every McDonalds in the world to make it seem like they really are giving away prizes.
Also, a few years ago, they ran a monopoly game just to catch the people who were cheating. The same group of people seemed to win the big prizes. They caught them getting the piece from some high ranking McD's person. Isn't that terrible. I would have been happy with the ipod last time...the cheapest prize. Oh vey!

This is a great question. Everyone I know is always missing that "one piece" to win a larger than food prize. No of my friends or family ever find that one missing piece before or after the game ends.
I'm wondering if some pieces aren't even printed to prevent folks from winning. I will keep an eye on this Question-- I'd love to know (also) if anyone has won something in this contest aside from free McD's food.

Food 4 Breakfast sandwiches. 1 Large Beef Sandwich.
Online at least 75 free prints and shipping and handling free from Snapfish. Not sure they only limit 1 prize per household. Snapfish offerings that is.
Getting sick and tired of their food again! May have to go vegan to lose the fat on my stomach already!
I sure am feeling taken, all these reports of scams during the Monopoly games.
I am quitting McDonalds for sure real soon!

If I remember correctly, a few years back, an employee of the marketing company hired to run the promotion was indicted for holding the winning prize pieces and distributing them to friends. Search Yahoo! for "McDonald's prize scam".

Nothing other than food prizes. I used to work in a place a few years back that put those game pieces in the newspapers, somehow 3 full cases of the pieces found their way into the trunk of my car.....anyway,after opening I don't know how many thousands of them we didn't get anything! I think that game is such a load of sh*t!

I won free fries. But then I started eating fatty foods after that and end up gaining a whole bunch of weight. Not really winning...
