Very good question. I live in the north of england and thankfully I am not fat or poor .The reason I think that a lot of people are is because they are lazy bastards and expect you southerners to subsidise them .I think it is a disgrace-we should cut benefit for lazy gits

What a rude thing to say.
Here we go again 'generalising'
I have friends in the North of England, and i must say that they are not fat and poor.
People buy what they can afford, we cant all eat 'like a prince'.
Their are fat people all over the world, so please justify that statement, I don't believe that people in England are poor!
Look at the third world countries, (that's poor)

You don't seem to have taken a good look around the South of England lately. A lot of people who are on low incomes eat cheap, filling and fattening foods. They, as well as the people who eat in swanky London restaurants, like to feel full, and may have a more reasonable desire so to do. It is not helpful that a huge number of purposefully employed people, who used to be the basis of our once proud manufacturing base, are now unemployed. These people are quite positively NOT lazy, they "just" don't have jobs. The manufacturing base has departed overseas, where the corporations that control who makes what, and where, can get their best return. Patronising responses won't find them jobs. They live in areas of high unemployment. Many of them have skills that have taken years to achieve, and cannot find outlets for those skills. It might be interesting to take a city high roller away from his millions and tell him to earn his keep in a skilled manufacturing job. My bet is he would not last a week.

If you really want an answer try reading The Road to Wigan Pier. It'll give you an insight in the realities of life on a low income.
As for the poverty, it's the result of the Tory government's need to reduce the power of the working class by removing the work and selling it abroad to the benefit of their friends in business.

It's probably the governments fault cos they give out things to foreigners and foreigners normally don't go far north when they come here, so the northerners are missin' out on a lotta stuff.

You really shouldn't stereotype. There has been a lot of research in to the links between obesity and poverty as the 2 often go hand in hand

It could be that, because Yorkshire Puddings are harvested year round and are plentiful, supply far outstrips demand - therefore some Pudding Farmers are reduced to growing fat from their own produce rather than making a profit from it.
