I am having trouble understanding why I no longer love my wife? We have had problems, but I really do want our marriage to work, but am very confused about my feelings. My doctor gave me Zoloft. I have had a panic attack over this as well.

Doctors usually give Zoloft for depression. Zoloft also I have noticed has a bizare effect on a lot of people. Years ago when I was in a depressed state I was prescribed Zoloft...I absolutely hated it, it made me worse...I couldnt sleep and I was hyped up all the time. My doctor changed my medication...I tried another brand of anti-depressant...it didnt work either. We tried a few and after a while we found one that settled me enough to work on my problems. Doctors will give anti-depressants in the hope that it will calm you enough and get your brain working sufficiently enough to work sensibly on your problems. Medications are not the answer, they will not solve anything. Medications with counselling will help. You need the both if you want to give it the best chance of success. If you trully want your marriage to work, then Marriage counselling is the only way I think in your case it is going to work because you said you are no longer in love with your wife. I dont think those feelings of love will come back by themselves and you need intervention. If Zoloft is not making you feel any better...go back to your doctor...do not take a medication if it is not working for you, but dont stop it without consulting your doctor first because some anti-depressants should not be stopped straight away and could cause you some nasty side effects. Marriage Guidance Counsellors have certain techniques that can sometimes make a relationship better than ever. That is where the solution is, not on anti-depressants...There is no wonder drug that is going to miraculously bring back the love...lots of work has to be done to bring back feelings you feel you dont have anymore, and you will only find that with a Professional who knows what they are doing. Does you wife know you have fallen out of love with her? If she does and she wants the marriage to last then she will be very keen to go to Marriage Guidance Counselling with you.

I take Zoloft, but I have not had any panic attacks since I have been taking this medication. I have been taking Zoloft nearly three years now.
Have you informed your doctor that you are having panic attacks with Zoloft?
I am confused about my marriage as well, and we are having problems with the family side, and s_x side.
We both sleep in separate bedrooms, and I was having problems with my S-X life, and the doctor prescribed the vacuum machine to me, but my wife will not assist me with it. She tells me that I have the problem getting it up, not her and it is my responsibility to get it up.
I mentioned this to the doctor, he told me that it was her responsibility as much as mine that she should work with me, but she refuses.
I do not know what kind of problems you and your wife are having but I would mention that the Zoloft makes you have panic attacks when you visit the doctor next time.
Good Luck

If your so stressed that you are having panic attacks, you probably will benefit from Zoloft. Keep working on your marriage and continue with the medication your Dr. prescribed.
Sometimes its not that we don't love our spouse, but we are just in a rut and don't feel like we have passion for that person any more. Remeber, love within a marriage goes through many stages throughout your life. Hang in there!!!

I'm sorry for your dilemma, I would suggest the two of you seek some marriage counseling. The Zoloft is not going to help your marriage get any better. You need some professional help besides a doctor prescribing you medication. Good luck.

The fact that you want your marriage to work is a good sign. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now and you need to talk to your doctor some more about about the different types of anti depressants available. Have you been completely honest with him about everything that is going on in your life? It sounds like you need some professional help alone and then possibly with your wife. Best of luck and stay strong.

Honestly, Zoloft is great for those who suffer from panic or depression. However, it is also a mask for feelings that really need to come out if your depression is situational.

You should really consider therapy and couples counseling. You will get much more out of a good therapist than a pill.

Good luck to you!

There is more to this than confusion over the marriage, if your doc has given you Zoloft. Get treatment/counseling to get to the bottom of it

I also take Zoloft. Here is how you have to look at it....it allows you to think clearer. we all could use a little help in that. It has never changed me/ only allowed me to be calm and more reasonable. I admire you for working on your marriage. I hope this logic will help you my friend. Hang in there.
