Who made distortion popular? I heard it was accidentally discovered by Bob Dylan. Who was the first band to really use distortion in every song?

Whoa! I thought I was on "Yahoo! Answers", where on would expect to see questions from amatuers. I didn't know I was on "Snobby Music Nerd Answers". Yes I know who The Stones/ Hendrix are. I've just heard alot of rumors about who started the distortion trend. Besides, if I knew the answer, why the f*uck would I ask the question????

I may be wrong, but I think the first rock&roll song to use distortion on the guitar was "Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones. You've heard of them, right? Just kidding!! Anyway, I think that record was released in 1965 or '66.

Check your guitar history dude start with Charlie Christian back in the 1930s then came Les Paul and Barney Kessel, check out Bo Diddley records he used distortion to some extent Jimi Hendrix really used distortion ,brought it to a high art. I assume you know of Jimi Hendrix right. Listen close to Les Paul mostly on his multi track records he was awsome in what he did with guitar, did many things no one even does today.Check them out.
