Yes it does. I was looking at this fashion magazine profile and the woman was dressed nice, then I took a good look at her face, hands, and neck. I noticed that she's flesh and bones. She had to be a size 0.

I don't think it desensitizes people. What I don't understand though is why people can't make up their own mind about these things without the media telling them what is good, bad or ok.
I personally think a lot of those girls are too skinny, but you don't know, they might be coke addicts or they may just have a very fast metabolism.
On the other hand someone can be a bit chubby but eat very healthily and exercise - and that is also fine!
HEALTHY - is the word to remember. Not TOO skinny or TOO fat.

If that's what the norm is now I'll leave it. It looks like you could break their bones if you hug them to hard. Not only would that be quite painful but I wouldn't feel to good for doing that. Personally I like a woman I can get my arms around and not touch my own shoulders. That's just a bit thin. But as for anorexia, seems like people are accepting it more because people aren't really admitting to having it and they continue to get thinner and thinner. They have a problem and don't admit it.

Yes. The more photos we see of painfully thin people, the more you get used to it and it doesn't look as shocking anymore.
I don't know why it seems like being anorexic is the "in" thing right now. What happened to the old days when women actually had a little bit of meat on their bones?

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. I prefer a slender look personally. However, once in a while, you'll see a picture of a model or celebrity who is excruciatingly skinny, which definitely brings a lot of focus to the question you asked.

I for one have been OVERsensitized by these images...
I was never sexually aroused by my Skeletor action figure until I saw Nichole Ritchie on the cover of the Enquirer.

Yeah, in a way because people get used to it... I, however, am not used to it because I can literally see almost every curve of their bones and that freaks me out... plus, they still look alien to me!

as long as there is media and mass low self esteem, anorexia will thrive
