Color changes are the normal thing for Goldies.Breeding and genetics can often play part and so can the food being fed. Black especially is not a stable color, in most cases we will see goldies go from darker colors to orange, but orange generally goes white!
Goldfish are omniverouse so they do need fresh or frozen, never canned, fruits and vegies. Salad or cocktail shrimp, Kiwi, grapes, oranges, green beans, squash, cauliflower, broccoli, spinnach..... all good for them.
Skin and remove seeds, hard vegies should be cooked and cut bite size. Oranges you can clip slices with a food clip or let em float. They like peas, those need popped out of the shell, and not often, peas are sugar/starch so a treat only. Kinda like giving em a candy bar!

And it quite is easily no longer pretend gold!!! jointly as the pretend stuff will turn your pores and skin green over the years... actual gold with all substitute your pores and skin while you're very acidic...

Color change is completely normal as long as it happens over time and night over night. A lot of black goldfish turn orange and a lot of orange goldfish turn white, its just in their genes.

check the water quality and temperature, if every thing is ok then he is fine, most fish change color as they get older, just like human bodies change as we get older.
