Washington Post poll claiming Democrats taking the lead oversamples Democrats 11% and takes it on the weekend (where Dems are usually favored). New York Times polls people not even registered to vote. Is the media trying to keep republicans at home?

Small print. It says it.
Mr. Ed. You can't take a nationwide survey for logal representatives. They never work.

Do the polls ever favor Republicans? If they did and they overpolled. I'd complain. It's the lying that disturbs me.

Yes, the media is Liberal and Biased. Hope it isn't a news flash, although some libs are so far gone they think the media is conservative... Scary... I dropped out of journalism because it was to Liberal AND Biased. I could have went to a conservative outlet, but that is NOT what journalism is supposed to be. It is supposed to be about being neutral and covering FACTS. All Media is biased, the trick is to figure out who leans what way and read one of each and balance the two (or hopefully more) sources. When Libs make a claim and Cons admit to it, I figure it is probably true and the same the other way around. Some stuff is obvious, but polls are notoriously ficticious. How many polls, studies, and surveys have to come out funded and "researched" by the groups involved have to come out before the whole idea of polls becomes moot? Fortunately enough of the population is oblivious enough to just believe whatever they read in print. So, as much as we'd love it to be different, only an educated populace with strong critical thinking skills could ever change things...

Most polls can produce some really impressive inaccuracies anyway, because a pollster has to design the questions carefully because the results can change dramatically depending on how you phrase the questions.
If you look at most poll questions you can find room for confusion once you start moving anywhere beyond the MOST GENERALIZED of yes/no, like/dislike questions.
The most insightful pollsters make very good tactical use of pretext and followup questions and even pay attention to the sequence of their questions as well. Statistical sciences can be one of the easiest things to fudge if you don't really know what you are doing.

Its the same old game of " What sells the news". Most of what you read is either slanted so far to the left, would make Stalin look like a school teacher, or so inaccurate, none of the information is correct.
I think it all depends on how the people get out and vote. Hey, Mayor Nagin or New Orleans got re-elected by absentee vote, of people who are not going back to New Orleans, so I guess anything is possible.

it quite is an analogous whether it is approximately an (R) or a (D). bear in mind that once Bush's numbers persevered to plummet, ALL polls have been "erroneous", "biased", or "no longer credible". bear in mind, the two events SUCK, besides the indisputable fact that it takes quite intelligence to determine that out. Partisanship isn't consistent with intelligence, it is predicated basically on emotion. The crooks/thugs interior the GOP are not to any extent further beneficial than the crooks/thugs on the Blue team.

The media has been covering up for Bush, for whatever reason, that finally they have to report the truth. Which really burns the owners.

I think that the headlines, and general shame, not the poll numbers, will cause Republicans to stay home. Their party doesn't deserve their support right now.
