Regardless of the brand of foundation I use, it applies uneven. Meaning, it gives my skin the caked, fake look. I use moisturizer and exfoliater, but it hasn't helped. I know I have the correct shade for my coloring. I've also tried applying it as a tinted moisturizer, but the coverage is just too sheer. How can I make my foundation look smooth and natural?

Out of all the liquid foundations I have found that Clinique foundation and light powder work the best for coverage and that non caked on look. It applies evenly and gives skin that sort of fresh look as if you're not wearing anything. I apply it with a sponge in light dabs then work it out to the corners of my face, forehead, chin and neck. Then I lightly dust on the loose powder with a sable brush.

It's hard for me to use liquid foundation too. I started using a thicker foundation, like a stick foundation. Or a foundation/powder. Believe it or not, I get the most even skin tone w/the thicker stick foundations then any foundation I have ever used! I know you may be discouraged because I said "thick" but you need to really try it. Max Factor has stick foundations, I believe Loreal does too in a silver tube. The work better. Although I have found Loreal True Match is a really good thicker foundation that covers really, really good and is designed to match EVERY womans skin tone. That's what I use now - I love it! Try it!

i always have foundation problems! its ither to dark wheni get it home or to light! i have found that if you use a wedge spunge and start at the center of your face and work the foundation out wards it works best and another tip: use a light colourd bronzer and lighly sweep it over your bone strucure THEN aplie a light blush to the apples of your cheeks it will look more natual and it will also set the make up for the day! Good luck

You could also try a primer before you apply your foundation. The primer gives the foundation something to stick to, therefore, letting it stay beautifully on your face much longer.

(setting it with powder after really helps, as well as using concealer where you need it most)

Try using a wet sponge. It should help even out the foundation when you apply it.

Try using spray foundation, you spray it on a sponge then apply it, I hear that it is a good way to get even coverage. Good luck!

use a foundation brush to apply the make-up.
go to the cosmetic counter in the mall for a free demonstration on how to use it. they sell these brushes there as well.
hope this helps :D
