i have a shirt that i like a lot but its white and i want to change the color to a tan/ light brown color without changing the color of the graphic (black). the shirt is pure cotton with a graphic that isnt part of the fabric but not raised from the rest of the shirt very much. how do i change the color of the shirt to a tan / light brown without changing the graphics color?

Expensively.
Some high-end art supply stores have special fabric dyes that chemically respond to the chemical makeup of different dyes in the shirt.
I have never actually seen them used but I have heard that they work very well
It seems that they work so well that you could have a blue and red shirt and just by adding the dye, be able to change it to blue and green!

Anyway you should probably just use some Rit Fabric Dye. Since you want to chang the color from white to tan, you need not worry since the graphic is already black; it won't get any darker!
I suggest you try the Rit dye first! Also don't forget to add vinegar to the wash water; otherwise the dye may not set fully!

place 1 whites and 1 colored shirt (your choice) put them both in the laundry and wash them. later your whites will get blended with your colored shirt.
