Personal opinion? Generally a mid range LG phone is good. I use the LG-VX8300 and am quite happy with it. Samsung is reputable as well. Here's the thing: Verizon Wireless gives you 15 days to test out the phone you buy. If you do not like it, simply return it and get a different model.

I am very satisfied with the LG VX8100. My daughter equally satisfied with phone I bought her LG VX8300.
