You can be a doctor AND an artist.

That said, artists can be curators at museums, sell their work, own galleries and art stores, teach art, lecture about art and more.

You need to decide if you want to do art as a hobby or as a career. Art as a hobby is a nice way to relax, meet others, express yourself, etc. Art as a career requires you to produce at a level that will meet your financial needs.

Why not become a doctor, if that is something you would like to do, and while you are studying medicine, relax by creating art. It sounds like you are intelligent enough to pull that off - giving to others and giving to yourself.

Well, lots of people have artistic pursuits which are not their primary source of income. If it becomes successful enough, you may be faced with a decision about pursuing one or the other, but for now, I would say go ahead with the doctor (did you mean doctorate?) plans and see what develops. Trying to live off of artistic talents is a very painful process. The expression "starving artist" did not develop from nowhere, after all!

Well, here's a few suggestions:

Be an artist.

Be a professional artist, like a graphic designer.

Be an art teacher.

There's more possibilities. Talk to a career counselor.

You're going to have to be a little more specific. I'm an artist. I paint and do other things. So I really don't know what to make of your question. Do you mean you're dating a doctor or going for a doctorate? If you want,e-mail me, use conventional. The format doesn't allow for lengthy expositing as it were. We can hash it out. This is a really tough field. Pleasure or profit? That's how you separate it. It's one of the toughest jobs in the world. Not to be confused with a religion.

Very few make a living as an artist, do it as an enjoyment thing not as a way to make a living. For a sure way to make money go the doctor route and leave art as a hobby.

paint and create pictures that tell others a story or your view on something. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being a doctor if that is what you want. You can do both you know.
