I'm obviously not a smoker, as my answer will indicate. It's in a nutshell, but true nonetheless--
Biological-- the smoke, nicotene, and other carcinogens (poisons) in cigarettes damage the body, starting with the lungs. The tar itself coats the lungs, acting like tar does-- caking everything with a disgusting layer of filth. Then all that seeps into the bloodstream, sending poison throughout the body, which weakens the immune system, making the body more succeptible to various illnesses, and even increasing the risk of cancer and heart trouble all by itself. Not to mention staining teeth, fingers, and lips and stinking everything up.
Sociological-- Because the "cool people" in movies and on TV often smoke, smokers think they're cool. In point of fact, few people who aren't smokers themselves want to hang around smokers because they smell like ashtrays. Truly concientios parents won't even let smokers hold their children because the nicotene can be absorbed into their children through touch! So they are shunned somewhat by non-smokers and therefore spend more time with smokers, which is a sad existence of bumming cigarettes off each other and talking about one bitter situation after another.
Psychological-- The smoking quickly turns from an accessory to a crutch. The addictive nicotene becomes "comfort 'food'" that consumes the life of the smoker, both literally and figuratively.
In a nutshell, don't smoke-- it makes you a sick person who is welcomed only by other bitter smokers and you'll think you're cool for a while, but soon you'll realize you're not-- and by then it will be too late to quit easily. You'll stink, be stained, and be dying from a stick made of poison that you take yourself!

Sociological - it affects others in society, particularly those that don't smoke. It lines the pockets of those manufacturing them. It costs the NHS billions of pounds a year treating smoking related illness, and it divides people in social situations.
Biological - Smoking is the biggest cause of death in the world. The most common being lung cancer and heart disease
Psychological - Arguably smoking does not actually calm you down, it causes anxiety as it causes your blood pressure and heart beat to rise every time you smoke.
Bottom line - a stinking, filthy expensive habit that has sociological, biological and psychological effects on the individual and the world in which they live.

Dire if you believe the smoker police.
Biological: Will rot your lungs
Sociological: You'd be better treated if you had AIDS or arrested for pedophilia. .
Psychological: You'll need the nicotine to deal with the sociological aspects of judge mental, pure as the driven snow sheep who with cast you out and shun you for sinning.

your winky can drop off, you'll be all stinky and if your friends are non-smokers you'll feel isolated, it's just bad so don't start, if you already do smoke, try and quit, you'll need will power though.
