Anthony, trickle down economics's was not the invention of Ronald Reagan, it dates back past Richard Nixon. It is called supply side economics's and it just plain does not work, never has, never will. I like the example of if you got three boxes stacked on the floor and you want to move the boxes if you lift the top box that is the only one that you move. But if you lift the bottom box then all three move, that is the kind of economy we seen in the Clinton years and it is history how big of an expansion it caused. Supply side economics always results in a recession. Always. If it wasn't for this war based on a lie we would be in a depression that is how bad it has gotten. It will take years to turn this down trend around. Repuglicans should be ashamed, but they are not, can we say lack of conscious.

Anthony my boy, trickle down economics was around in the forties, this certainly isn't something Jimmy carter or Ronald Reagan came up with. A slogan that accompanied that philosophy was this: " as goes General Motors, so goes the Country"! Scary, huh?
Trickle down economics had it's place, but the very idea of it sure pissed off a lot of people, particularly the labor unions.
It brought on visions of serfdom, of a class concept, of two class levels in the US. The very rich, and everybody else.
It probably worked well in post war America, because back then, it was the large corporation that people worked for, from womb to tomb, and their father before them. The labor union negotiated and did your thinking for you. The average worker was just a lemming. Manufacturing was rampant, so little could go wrong. The growth was phenominal, and so was the economy.
Reality started to surface during the Reagen years. Midway through his tenure Reagen voiced the fact that "we were no longer the giant manufacturer, we were at one time. We were becoming an information gathering society." Those words were paraphrased as I remember them.
I believe this problem was futher exacerbated when Clinton approved NAFTA. This, it seems to me, was the beginning of the end for American manufacturing. For a while the economy thrived because of NAFTA, but then manufacturing plants and jobs started to disappear. The rest is history!

Actually, "they" haven't... In case you missed it, there have been a few of those Demo thingies in office in between 81 and today and they have their own tax and spend economic phiolosophy... Repubs have simply adopted the same philo of the Dems, so it is tax and spend towards socialism with the Dems or tax and spend towards a comercial state with the Repubs... BOTH parties LIVE to TAKE what we EARN... Figure it out and you'll see the only answer is a clean house... Heck all new Repubs and Dems would suit me just fine. No deposit no return, they take all and give nothing so recycle them for the latest model and maybe they'll decide to shape up...
Trickle Down works... even the filthy rich can only horde so much before they burst and spend like crazy... which creates jobs and job opportunities. Poor people DO NOT CREATE JOBS. The more businesses keep the more they can devote to growth. Consumers need to be strong enough to slap down companies that overpay top execs or bleed the econ dry like big oil. Until we do that we get what we deserve which is the other stinky stuff that trickles down...

Trickledown lasted from 81 to about 83. It was partually responsible for the boom of the late 80's. Read an economics book, even the Reagon economists acknowledged it didn't work in the early 80's.

We've got the richest middle class and the richest lower class in the world; I'd say it's been pretty successful despite the roadblocks thrown up by Democrats.

I don't know. I'm solid middle class. No problems, my friend. Could use healthcare help (we have insurance), but as long as there's lawyers on both sides of the aisle in DC that probably won't happen.
