I'm currently in my Church's praise team as the only Electric guitarist, using a Jumpstart Ibanez GAX Guitar which is pretty nice when I combined it witha Boss Distortion Pedal and some old Fender amp I cant seem to find on the internet(Has an Equalizer on it?), but I wanna explore more into more advanced guitars for a better sound. Seeing as how our main influence on music and mostly what we play comes from Hillsongs, I wanna know what a good guitar is that I can use for both Distortion playing and Normal setting..or whatever but within a good price range..nothing over 600 Im hoping. Something that'll last and especially keeps in tune very well cuz Im going to be playing it quite a bit~ Any string, pedal and amp use suggestions are much appreciatted as well.

It totally depends on the sound you want. I like the Gibson ES 335 Dot. I have one, it's, to me, the most perfect guitar, it's great for blues, "British Invasion" stuff, rockabilly, stuff I play. I am a Gibson man, always have been. Fender guitars are nice too, for a twang, get a Tele, a Strat is pretty flexible, you can use it for about anything (although I find a Strat too thin for rhythm). Play around on a few different guitars at a store and see what you like. Don't buy anything without playing it first, all guitars play differently.
A good guitar will really cost you over $500. Epiphone and Squire are good for the price (I think Epis are made better, but that's my personal opinion), and I know lots of professional musicians (some I play with) that will use a Squire, and then upgrade electronics as they go. Make friends with a guitar tech, that was one of the best things I ever did.
For a pedal, I would suggest a Digitech mulit effects pedal, I have one for my bass and one for my guitar. They have about a hundred presets, and you can tweak and save settings. I never play without them. And to me, it just makes more sense to buy something that does it all rather than to buy a million pedals that do some.
For amps, I use a Peavy amp for my guitar, it's an older one, mid 80s model. It gets the job done. Peavy is decent quality for a good price. I am probably going to be investing in something better soon, like Vox, but that's becasue I'm a big fan of the Beatles. If price is an issue, I'd suggest starting out with a Beringer amp. They are pretty affordable and have a great tone, and often have a lot of presets you can work with. I have one for my acoustic guitar.
Strings: use Elxiar, they are expensive, but they sound awesome, and they are coated, so you don't have to change them as often. I only use Elixar strings on my guitars.
One more piece of advise, great guitar players are a dime a dozen, good bass players are hard to find, if you want to make it in music, learn to play bass, and learn to play it well.

A Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul series is what I would go with for your price range. Fender makes good amps, as does Peavey. You just need to decide how power you need. Ernie Ball makes my favorite strings.

My favorite guitar is the acoustic guitar. I really like it because it has the best sound for a band. I have an acoustic guitar and I play it all the time.

Any guitar would sound good playing Christian music. It just depends on what kind of style you like.
