I remember Bill Clinton once mentioned he would like to see a president be able to run for a third term, but not continuously, i.e. 2 terms, then wait a few years, and run again. I think it makes sense because if the president has really done a good job, and voters can see the comparison with another president, they could make a better judgement. The 3rd terms is especially useful when the Country is faced with a lot of problems. The experience and connection a 3rd term president brings with him is priceless.

Two consecutive 4-year terms is plenty for the President to settle into the job, get some things done, and depart before a lot of people get tired of him (or her) or start claiming that he's trying to become an emperor or a dictator. Besides, the job is a pretty thankless one and takes a serious physical toll on the President.
Bill Clinton could run again now, but he disgraced himself and nobody would be stupid enough to nominate him. George Bush could run again in 2012, but there are enough people opposed to him that he wouldn't be nominated. I think he has done a pretty fair job in one hell of a global situation, and can't think of anyone (especially those that were nominated) that would have done it any better.

Well if you liked Clinton that much then you are only asking for a president to sit around on his lazy *** and do nothing. Thats exactly what he's done in his first two terms. Well all except for lobbing off a couple missiles and then backing off. He's pulled out of so many places and he's a sissy and all he wants is Monica Lewinsky or even you would do just fine for him is to put your face down in his groin and play "bob for apples" while playing with his petite weiner.

No one should be able to run for a third term. There's not a candidate that's even qualified to 2 terms. The Republicans got the two-term (23rd) amendment passed because of FDR. Would we have really wanted a third term from Eisenhower, Nixon, Johnson, Reagan or Bush 2? (obviously the asker wouldn't have minded a third Clinton term).
