Thankfully, getting stupider isn't grounds for divorce or she'd have filed papers on you long ago.
Seriously, there's a trendy school of thought running around that most women marry and then get fat and sexless. Yes there are some examples to bolster this, and some women do say hurtful things like "you're mine - now that I have the ring I don't have to try any more'. But it's not all women and it's not every instance. Men are just as guilty of slobbing up after marriage. If you don't believe me check the stands at a pro football game - you'll see more shirtless exposed whale blubber there than at any seaport in Japan. And men can also say hurtful things - take your question, for example.
This argument assumes first off that the man has not changed one bit - and is, as a matter of fact, actually better looking and younger than when he married. Of course, your beer gut, love handles, balding Friar Tuck head, nose hair, ear hair, farting, boxer shorts on the weekends, no more love notes, stare at football all weekend sorry-lumpy-*** 2-pump-chump no foreplay excuse for a husband habits are perfectly okay, but 10 extra pounds and you want to dump her. Is that about right?
Why not ask her how she feels? Ask her how she thinks your relationship has changed recently - for better and for worse? Why not buy the both of you a gym membership and tell her you both need to get into better shape (not lose weight) and we're going together and it will be a fun thing we can do and not pressure her when she can't? Or work together to select a mutual goal - like running in the Race for the Cure - and using that as impetus to run, work out, eat better, etc?
You assume so much yet you haven't manned up to ask her what she thinks and what she sees as a problem -- nor have you even given her a chance to be part of the solution. My guess is you are lining up a woman on the side, if you don't already have one. Another unilateral decision she is unaware of. Also *real* grounds for divorce, I might add.
Either start talking to her or move out and end it. Whichever path you choose, don't blame it on her. You're the one with the double standards for physical perfection and aging.

I wonder if your wife thinks that losing all your hair is enough ground for divorce? Maybe she should get a night job and start saving up for your hair transplant.

colin, why don't you just get her a gym membership, and BOTH of you go start working out. within a month if she is dedicated, she will see results.....FEEL better, sexier, etc......and you will have the woman you married back.
I'd say that THAT is the better investment for your money. OR use the cash that you would spend on whores......and take her to get some lipo and a tummy tuck....maybe throw in some hooters if you feel wacky. anyway, either way, she is still the better investment because at least you KNOW where she lays her head at night, and you basically know what goes in her mouth, and inside of her. can you say the same about some street walker?
invest in your wife. it will pay off handsomely.
=)

Well, it could mean that you are a very lucky person. I have heard from some men that they think fat women are much better lovers than thin women. They tell me that one reason is that fat women never know when they will get the chance to have sex again so they work much harder to please their lover.
Now that I have said what men have told me I can confess that I am overweight. My wonderful man doesn't care that I have gained weight. He loves me for the person inside the body. He also tells me that he is very satisfied each time we make love.

NO, you married her for better or worse, why did she become fat in the first place? Is she depressed? Talk it over with her! There is an underlying reason for being fat!
