As late as the 60's nice women did not go to bars. That changed with the sexual revolution and since bars went out of favor for a while with the young in many cultures. Once the 70's hit, along with the sexual revolution and women's liberation, women took to doing what they wanted socially. In the 80's when many women competed for jobs traditionally filled by men, entertaining in bars and drinking ones lunch with clients became part of the territory.
