I remove bugs from a motorcycle windshield by putting a bath towel soaked in warm water on it for a while. It softens the bugs and they come off without scratching the shield. I don't know if this is practical for you, but its food for thought.

Look for bug and tar remover at your local auto store, also Walmart or similar store should have them.
I've found that car wax doesn't do as a good a job, always end up with a little bit that won't come off.
Removes tree sap as well and doesn't harm the paint.

Soak it in warm soapy water (or water that has bug-removing soap in it) for a time, and then blast it with high pressure water. Try to get it all without using any cloth or actually touching the dried bug goo at all.

use a little Simple Green...works like a charm. Don't use wax!!!...you may scratch the clearcoat if there is dirt mixed in with the bug guts..

I have this problem too...mostly lovebugs on my car. the only thing that has helped is to drive really slow so you dont smash them.... you may want to add a little extra driving time if you're on a schedule.
