1. 1mm of tread over three quarters of the width all the way round, no blisters or cracks on the tyres.

2. Oil level of engine whilst cold.

3. Coolant level.

4. Mirrors and side lights are clean and not broken.

5. Windscreen is clean, not broken and free from unnecessary items, and all lights work.

6. Crane is secured in the transport position and legs are retracted.

I'm not a crane dude, but the first five are standard large vehicle checks. I forgot suspension, wheel nuts and power steering.

4) Outriggers stowed

firstly that it is stowed correctly
it has hydraulic oil in it
that there are no leaks
or bad corrosion on the rams
check that the outriggers are stowed
and no pipes are fouled
quite important is to check that you have the right equipment to load/unload IE strops chains or a gripper.

check for no-one is climbing on it
no little fingers are in the way
check oil
