Understand Spanish and Mexicans are different, have a different culture, slang and customs. Cruz is Spanish, Hayek is Mexican. You should respect that, it is respecting one's heritage. I would never place all whites as European, but Irish, German, Ukranian, etc. This goes as well with Asians, "Latins", etc. It's wrong, identify each culture and, well "race." If there is race b/c everyone is mixed!

Cruz is from Madrid, Spain and Hayek was born in Veracruz, Mexico so they are from different nationalities. To say they were the same would be like saying someone from America and England were the same.

Penelope Cruz is Spanish. Salma Hayek, though born and raised in Mexico, is half Spanish, half Lebanese. They have completely different racial background and different social upbringings. They even speak Spanish differently. That's why they're different, even though they're best friends.

The only reason this seems important to you is contained in the second part of your question.
You are stating that you ARE willing to fight over a racial issue, but not a social construct issue. Why is race something you'd kill for?

Contrary to popular belief Selma Hayek is only half Mexican, the other half is European. You will be hard pressed to find an attractive Mexican (100%) woman by European standards.
This is just the media propaganda, just like how they portray Tiger Woods is black (he isn't).
