I have been teaching for 7 years in a middle school and now I am beginning to think of what else is out there. I know there are many options, but thought asking might inspire me to really look at what si out there. Maybe someone else has done this.

English degrees are the most demanded degrees in business
followed by Math and History. You can do many things in business send out resume's to any establishment you desire.
The communicative skills are high demand.

You can consider advancing you teaching experience to either High School or College level. Or you could put it in a frame, put it on a wall and look at it. Of course that would not pay the bills. You could even use it to do consulting work. Many many things you can do with it.

I, too, have a Master's in English...I am a roofer! Pays better than teaching, and it's not as boring as reading CLARISSA !

Philosophy majors seem to have the house painting field sewn up right now, and History majors dominate landscaping!
And you gotta pay those student loans somehow.

Tech writing is in demand ...

well it depends on what field you want to be in. with your teaching experience, you could go into the business enviornment and become a trainer in corporate america, you can go into the college arena and become an academic advisor. you are not limited by your degree, you can do many many things. take your combination of experience and course work and apply for anything.
