i am thinking to upgrade my desktop processor, the current processor is a pentium 4 3.06 GHz socket LGA 775 and the motherboard can Supports Intel Pentium 4 HT processors i would like to know how much difference is between these processors? will my desktop perform better? faster ? and one more thing if a upgrade the processor do i need to upgrade some extra hardware also? like the power supply maybe?

If you are just planning to upgrade to a P4 with hyperthreading, don't bother, hyperthreading was way overrated as it only really gave you about a 5% increase. You want proof, notice how none of the new processors even use it. If your board can support a Pentium D, that might be worth the upgrade as you will get a more noticeable gain.
