Yes. Super volcanos. The mystery of why some sects suddenly disappeared was only recently solved. The human race was nearly wiped from the face of the Earth from one that erupted in Lake Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia 74,000 years ago.
From Wikipedia:
"The Lake Toba eruption plunged the Earth into a volcanic winter, eradicating 60% of the human population, and was responsible for the formation of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere and the Millennial Ice Age."
From the Discovery Channel documentary:
"Some researchers suspect that Toba's super eruption and the global cold spell it triggered might explain a mystery in the human genome. Our genes suggest we all come from a few thousand people just tens of thousands of years ago, instead of from a much older, bigger lineage — as the fossil evidence testifies. Both could be true if only a few small groups of humans survived the cold years following the Toba eruption."

There is a story about a Roman Legion, I Think it was the 13th, which occupied the North of England during the Roman Wall period. It is said that the Legion was marching North and were never seen again. The soldiers that were sent out to look for them found no trace of them, not even a sandal. It is alleged that they had made camp in an area of swamp and that the whole legion disappeared into the swamp around the Cheviot Hills. One would have expected some survivors and pieces of equipment but nothing was ever found.
There is book which tells the full story, I think that it is called 'The Lost Eagle' I am not sure of the authors name.
Or you could maybe find out more if you searched the History of the Hadrian's Wall which stretched from the East coast to the West coast of northern Britain.

Two years after last mention, the English returned and found that over a hundred people had just completely vanished, with the only clue a word, Croatoan, carved into a tree. No trace of those hundred or so people has ever been found.

Oh you will come across him in case you look confusing sufficient- he would be traveling the rustic on some theological excursion prepping for his e book which would be out later this 12 months. on the top of the day he remains a "holy curler" that some prefer to take heed to talk. His social commentaries are patently not often happening - yet his biblical ones would be somewhat inspiring. he will additionally proceed artwork in the hospice he equipped, & helping low income scholars get to varsity by making use of way of scholarship drives. Wrights penitentiary ministry remains going stable & the church additionally has classes to assist ex offenders. The media wont EVER spotlight the stable he does - purely the undesirable. So we will see Wright back whilst he says some thing "offensive" off color & brash.

Yes, whole races have become extinct in the past. The mythology of Atlantis is questionable and I do believe Plato refers to them in one of his books.
Also on the Western Hemisphere, the Native American were not the only ones of their tribes to cross the frozen sea. You had Carib Indians found in parts of Central America and the Caribbean, they disappered quickly after the Europeans 'discovered' the West. There is the Arawak Indians predomiately in the Caribbean, especially Jamaica. They all died within a 40 year period of Columbus' first arrival.

yes there have been as stated by others here. then there were some sects which may have " vanished " by making their way totally out of the area in which they originated leaving no trace of their existence behind which confounded and confused their neighbors. an example might be the lost colony of Roanoke here in the United States.
