The electronics of a phone are very small. It's likely that a connection has been cut or torn. If you can get the phone open(the screws are behind the little rubber dots) look at the two ribbons that go from the base of the phone to the ear piece. Motorola flip phones are notorious for tearing that ribbon from being opened and closed often. But it may have just come disconnected when dropped. The connection is just held on by a tiny clip that's not very secure. If you can remove the entire ribbon, you may be able to convice your mobile service to mail you a new one or maybe try one of the T-Mobile/Cingular stores and see if the repair guy will order you one. That will save you some money.
