How to turn an old Ballofix?!?

I would like to stop the water but can't turn the old Ballofix which has lost its handle. I have tried with a scruedriver -- with no success. Anyone please tell me how to d.i.myself?

Usually the handle is held in place with a screw. The part you need to turn is the square thingy sticking out. Put vise grips on it, not pliers, and turn it both directions in case it is stuck.
