The easiest way I know to do this kind of problem is this:

First you know that there are 1000 meters in 1 kilometer, so there are 9020 meters in 9.02 kilometers.

Then you know that there are 100 centimeters in 1 meter, so there are 902000 centimeters in 9020 meters.

Thus, there are 902000 centimeters in 9.02 kilometers.

well, centimeter mean 1/100 of a meter, and kilometer means 1000 meters. I hope you can figure it out from there.

there are 1000 m in one km.
100 cm in one m.

using a method of cross-multiplication is very effective - cancel out all the units and you are left with your answer

9.02 km x (1000 m/1 km) x (100 cm/1m) = you figure this part out
