Took a ballet beginning dance class since I haven't been dancing long time really wanted to start from scratch. Double checked with the studio if this is really a beginning class I was told that yes it is even that's an opening class. Finished the one hour class found out that all of the students in that class have been dancing for ages, I couldn't learn anything because there's no teaching, just practicing. They are all doing turns and jumps perfectly. I talked to the instructor after class she apologized and confessed to me that they couldn't get any new students since the old students are not willing to move to immed/advance class, and when the instructor trys to slow down to teach new students they would be like "hurry up don't wast my time!" I don't even kow should I believe what the instructor told me, but I just feel this is so unfair for new students like me who wants to go to a beginning class to learn some basic stuffs. Is there anything I should do?

I think you should try a diffrent studio or a different instructor. It seem like this studio doesn't know how to attract and teach beginners, or doesn't care to do so. My studio used to get complaints that begginer class is not manageable for beginners. What they did is called the "old" begginer class an "Intermediate", allocated a new time slot for beginners and INSISTED on teaching at beginner level in the new beginners class. See, my teacher can manage his class, he doesn't get bossed around by his class. LOL. Yeah, people from intermediate came over to check out begginer class, but they didn't stay because the class was truly beginner. Teacher wouln't even answer advanced questions. Yeah, they only have 5 people attending beginner class at the start, but they were pretty firm about keeping beginner class a beginner.

Bottom line: you should express it to them that you will be happy to join a real beginner class. Give them your contact info in case they ever decide to teach it. And go to another studio, at least, temporarily. You can't really teach them to run their business better.

Go to a different dance studio.

This is not unheard of, it happens all together too often. That's when you know it's time to find a different studio.

This one is catering to it's repeat customers and isn't pushing them to move on. You don't want to be stuck there. They won't teach you anything.

I would consider a different studio if the instructor cannot be truthful.

I think that you should go to another class where you can get the attention that you need.
