yes it matters. We have a dog faced puffer and he is very unsocial too. Do you have any other fish? It will take some time for your puffer to get used to the feeding times and his new friends. Ours took about a day or two and now he eats the most! :) Put a freeze dried krill in there, he will chew that up. A dog puffer has teeth, so I do not know if yours does. Good luck! And get that heat up to about 79 - 81 degrees

I assume your temperature range is between 75-82 degrees. The water in the aquarium has been neutralized for chlorine and is oxygenated . We are talking a salt water puffer , aren't we. If all the above is correct, I feel the puffer may have a bacterial disease, like White spot sickness.

The temperature DOES matter. Puffers should be in a tropical range, and the water should be very warm. I know that all saltwater fish tend to need warmer water than freshwater. ALSO- puffers should not be laying down. I would call your vet or the store you bought him at.

I'm going to assume this is an Indian Dwarf Puffer. It need temps in the 72-82 range. Also it need water which is neutral to basic in the 7-8pH range. Lastly they don't tend to like flakes. They prefer live food like brine shrimp. They may eat freeze dried krill, and brine shrimp. Also they love snails.

for this reason the call, all puffer fish do sing his very own praises. yet its extraordinarily annoying to them to realize this. they simply sing his very own praises whilst they are being attacked or harrassed by making use of alternative fish (or human beings). It says, "i'm extra desirable than you so do not mess with me". Puffers would be very delicate and tend to fall ill definitely, making them sing his very own praises on purpose can shorten their existence significantly.

Mine did the same thing, add a little warm water and it'll perk up quick. Be sure to keep a light on it or a heater.
