I am a US Citizen! And my ppl were here way before any laws were around. We were happy to share our land with others who were oppressed by other countries. Besides this is Q&A not a debate. I happen to want to marry someone who is has dual cittizenship. He is already married to someone who lives in another country. We are trying to decide if we should continue the process and bring her here so his can be near his kids without putting our family on the rock because we just had a child. He just got back from a six month deployment and goes every year. He has every right to have his family here in this country that he fights for.

Okay I'm not sure of your question but I do have answers to similar questions:

It takes 4 years after marrying a person who is trying to obtain his.her citizenship. The person that the non citizen is married to must be a us citizen by birth or naturalization.

After gaining citizenship you can divorce right away but they may question the marriage if it was illegal or legal. You are better to stay married one year or more after gaining citizenship.

A non citizen trying to obtain his/her citizenship must be a us resident for 3 1/2 years. It is better to hire a immigration lawyer to file the papers. It is faster and less complicated. The lawyer should have all the answers you need.

Good Luck

You just don't become a us citizen because you get married, you must complete the same process as everyone else. If you only want to get married to get citizenship then stay were you are. Don't come in to our country just to marry someone because you think you automatically get to be a citizen. Marry someone were you live and try to make you own country better instead of coming to the us and making our divorce rate higher!

It looks like you need to be married about 5 years to accomplish this. Check out the legal advice being offered by an immigration attorney on the website below.
