Anna Politkovskaya, a Russian investigative journalist known for her critical coverage of the war in Chechnya, was found murdered in the elevator of her Moscow appartment building on Saturday, October 8, 2006. She was found with four gunshots to her torso. Was this a revenge killing for her coverage of Chechnya rebellion?

It is definitely related to her investigation and criticism on both Putin's administration as well as Kadyrov policy in Chechnya. However, it could also be there oppositions attempt to damage their reputations.

It appears that way - although I understand she wrote many such articles. What I found most interesting is that she is an AMERICAN!! I guess Free Speech IS a good thing - the Commies still can't accept it - so they murder you in an elevator to shut you up.
May she rest in peace...
